Be extremely careful when choosing someone to sharpen your expensive convex scissors. Unfortunately an exceptionally huge percentage of sharpeners create bevel edges on expensive convex scissors, which will completely alter the angle of the blade and will seriously affect the performance of your scissors.
Most premium hairdressing scissors have convex edges which have hand finished, razor sharp, highly sensitive edges and should be used for slide cutting, slice cutting, chipping and fan cuts. Convex scissors will rapidly lose their sharp edges if used for blunt work or to cut thick sections of hair.
Bevel edge hairdressing scissors have a machine cut face along the cutting edge, have tough edges and are very nick resistant. They are good for blunt/point cutting and for bulk hair removal.
If you have a pair of convex scissors which have been previously poorly sharpened and now have bevel edges, in many cases our scissor experts can re-profile the bevel edges back to convex edges.
