Scissor Service

Hairdressing scissors are taken apart and cleaned, so that we can examine each blade under magnification to identify any damage.

All blade imperfections are removed with Japanese wet stones. If we ascertain that the scissors are bent, we will determine whether the scissors can withstand pressure and undergo a reshaping process.

The original manufacturers cutting angle is established so that we can ensure that the most minimal amount of metal is removed during the sharpening process.

The condition of the centre screw/thumb tensioner is assessed and if required, screws, washers, finger rests and bump stops will be replaced.

We use 2 grades of Japanese wet stones to hand sharpen the inside of each blade. Blades are continually assessed under magnification so that we can identify the areas (nicks and damage) which need the most work; this is a lengthy process which produces highly polished edges and ensures that the most minimal amount of metal is removed.

We hand sharpen the outside of each blade on the most advanced high precision equipment in the world, designed exclusively to sharpen professional hairdressing scissors to factory sharpness. The outside edges are honed and highly polished using premium products to produce smooth sharp scissors with a mirror finish.

Scissors are put in an ultra sonic cleaning tank, which generates acoustic shock energy to remove even the most ingrained dirt, particularly from parts that traditional cleaning methods can’t reach.

The tips are adjusted and reshaped by hand.

Tips are then rounded off and de-burred to ensure safety of use.

It is imperative that the scissors are re-tensioned and balanced.

Lubrication is applied and worked into the scissors. We then test the cut along the length of the blades, using a specially made scissor fabric.

Lastly, the tips are tested on clean hair.
